71 Nyhavn // Staying in a Unique, Historic Hotel in Copenhagen
Nestled in the heart of Copenhagen's iconic Nyhavn, a place steeped in history and tales dating back to the sixteenth century, my partner Stephan and I found ourselves captivated by the charm and elegance of 71 Nyhavn Hotel. With a history as rich as the canal it's situated beside, this beautiful historic hotel promised us an unforgettable experience. Over three relaxing days in the early autumn, Stephan and I reveled in the opulent bed linens, savored the hotel’s delectable breakfasts, and basked in the cozy vibes and unique architectural touches that make 71 Nyhavn Hotel an absolute gem.
While staying at this hotel, it felts as though we were instantly transported back in time. The hotel's history is intertwined with Nyhavn's own narrative, serving as a mercantile center for Baltic shipping, a refuge for weary sailors, and a haunt for colorful characters. Today, it stands as a living time capsule that beckons both locals and international travelers, promising a slice of Copenhagen's rich heritage.
The hotel, housed in two well-preserved warehouses on the sunny side of the canal, offers an unobstructed view of the bustling waterfront. As we looked out from our room, we were treated to the picturesque view of the harbor and the historic buildings leading up to it, and the tiny tourists and locals walking down below.
Our stay at the hotel was defined by comfort and relaxation. The bed linens were sumptuous and cloud-like, enveloping us in a cocoon of warmth each night. Then each morning, we started our day with a delightful breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. The menu featured a delectable array of local and international flavors, with more food than we could possibly eat in one sitting. Between the room’s comfort and the delicious meals, we felt truly pampered.
71 Nyhavn Hotel in Copenhagen is more than just a place to stay; it's an immersive experience in history and comfort. Our three-day retreat at this charming historic hotel left us with cherished memories and a deep appreciation for the enduring allure of the city. If you're seeking a captivating getaway in a setting that seamlessly merges history with luxury, this hidden gem along the canal is a must-visit.
I shot all of these images on my Canon 5D Mark III and my trusty 24-70mm lens, along with those Images on my Fujifilm XT-30 travel camera.
