Derek + Raquel // A Pelican Inn Late Summer Wedding
This is a wedding that I meant to blog sometime in the winter, but for some unknown reason, just never got around to. Now, I have no excuse since I’m stuck inside for the next month or so hahahaha….
Anyways! Derek and Raquel’s wedding was just the kind of wedding I would love to document over and over again. Hosting their intimate celebration at the beautiful Pelican Inn, a Tudor-style wayside cottage in the hills near Muir Beach, felt like a step back in time. Everything moved at a leisurely pace, no one was in a rush, and their guests enjoyed the scenery while sipping on pints of beer straight from the tap.
I have rarely seen such a clear example of companionship and teamwork as Derek and Raquel showed just on their very first day of their married lives. When things didn’t go quite as planned, including a ceremony that missed a few key parts and a (gorgeous) handmade bridal shoe claimed by the ocean, they didn’t let it dampen their spirits—they leaned on each other and reminded everyone what marriage is really about. It was inspiring to witness, and I’ll be forever amazed by their patience and kindness.
They danced well into the night, with a party I have rarely seen a rival to before or since, and then they were off to start their married lives together. I have so much love for these two, and will always look back on this day with fondness.
